North Fork Lights: And the Winner is ...

North Fork Patch announces the winner of the 2010 holiday light display contest. The winner will now be entered into a Long Island-wide competition.

After much debate amongst North Fork Patch editor and several contributors, the winner of the 2010 holiday lights contest has been crowned.

Maureen Voelkel of Cutchogue notified North Fork Patch on Dec. 16 of two sailing dinghies rigged with Christmas lights displayed on her front lawn on Pine Tree Road. Though certainly were decked out in classic and sometimes over-the-top seasonal decor, we decided that the Voelkels' simple sailboat display truly embodied a North Fork Christmas.

"And our neighbors enjoy it and comment on it favorably," Voelkel wrote.

The Voelkels' picture will be entered into a larger, Long Island Patch-wide competition for theThanks to photographer for her hard work caputuring over a dozen great outdoor displays from Aquebogue to Orient for this contest.
