New Day Spa Opens Thursday In Cutchogue

Just in time for Mother's Day, a new spa dedicated to upscale yet affordable pampering opens its doors on Main Road in Cutchogue.

Owner Karen Catapano, whose business ventures with her husband Dr. Michael Catapano, also include the Catapano Dairy Farm in Southold and STAT-Health Walk-in Medical Care, directly in front of the new spa in a shopping plaza, said she wants to bring upscale spa treatments at an affordable price.

Adagio, which means "slow movement" in ballet terms, will offer women an opportunity to unwind as they pamper their bodies and soothe their minds.

Massage treatments include relaxation, deep tissue, healing stone, pregnancy massage, and aromatherapy massage.

A full range of detoxification treatments, including far infrared sauna, are available.

Barbara Kummer will offer facial treatments and waxing; body scrubs and wraps are also offered in the spa's soothing atmosphere.

Catapano uses Arbonne products, which she said she "fell in love with."

Her vision, Catapano said, is to create a sanctuary where women can receive high end spa treatments at an affordable price, " probably the best price on the East End."

Catapano also teaches ballet at the Mainstage Dance Academy in Greenport and said spa treatments aren't just a luxury, they're critical to maintaining good health though stress reduction and other benefits.

May specials, including $15 off a $30 sauna, are available. To hear about specials and make an appointment, call 631-734-SPAS (7727).

Closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, the spa may be open for evening hours in the future depending on demand. "This is a work in progress," Catspano said.

Adagio Day Spa will open at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
