Mosquito Spraying Set for Tuesday

Areas of the North Fork are targeted for mosquito control.

Suffolk County Department of Health will be spraying some salt marshes on the North Fork on Tuesday night to control mosquito larvae.

According to the health department, spraying will take place over New Suffolk, Great Hog Neck, Kerwin Blvd., Pipes Neck Creek, and Pipes Cove between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Officials did not recommend any precaution, as the helicopter will be flying at a very low level over marsh areas and taking precautions to control drift into inhabited areas. Human exposure is unlikely and the products involved — methoprene — have no significant human toxicity, they said.
