Memorial Day Weekend Spotlight: 'Sailing the Seven Seas' at the East End Seaport Museum

Check out meticulously hand-crafted ship models replicating famous sea-going vessels of the last four centuries at Greenport's Museum this coming weekend.

Into maritime history?  You might like thesummer exhibit entitled "Sailing the Seven Seas," which opens to the public Memorial Day weekend.

The exhibit features several detailed models of famous historic ships from around the world, such as the U.S.S. Constitution, the three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy launched in 1797; the Royal Navy's H.M.S Victory, launched in 1765; and the San Filipe, one of Spain's most famous war ships launched in 1690.

Shirley Tracy, of Loudon, Tenn., donated nine of these handcrafted models made by her husband, D. Richard Tracy, to the trackside museum. These ships will be added to other models from the museum's existing collection to form a new exhibit spanning hundreds of years of maritime history.
