Lucharitos Unveils Wrestlers, Taco Box at Maritime Festival

Lucharitos in Greenport has more than just the usual array of delicious tacos and margaritas on the menu for the weekend's Maritime Festival.

"Lucharito wrestlers" will be onhand all weekend long, said owner Marc LaMaina.

"Lucharitos translates into little fighter. My son Joey was in the hospital fighting a very high fever when he was a month old, same time we were thinking of a name for the bar," he said. "So the little fighter is him. The masks are a huge part of Mexican wrestling and Mexican culture. And they're fun. It's fun to step into a character and get a little crazy."

Festival-goers will be able to purchase authentic luchador wrestling masks that LaMaina had shipped in from Tijuana.

In addition, Lucharitos will unveil its new food truck, a "taco box," at the festival.

"My great friend Kevin Sage was the visionary behind the box," LaMaina said. "He let me in on it and we agreed to turn it into a taco box. It's really a special project and we are having a ton of fun getting it ready for private parties and festivals."
