A family visiting Greenport has been frantically searching for their lost dog since Saturday.
"We have been here visiting in Greenport since Friday and on Saturday we lost our dog, my sister's dog," wrote Linda Whitridge. "We have been searching endlessly and have had incredible support from the amazing people of this town. We have already contacted all the shelters, police, animal hospitals, etc. and some friendly local kids have created a Facebook page for updates."
The missing pooch, Karl, is a tan chihuahua mix; he has a white area on his chest and head, and is wearing a blue harness.
He was last seen in Greenport Saturday afternoon, but there have been various sightings from Bridge Street all the way up to the Sunset Motel on Route 48, Whitridge said.
"He is very scared of people and has been running so far and fast, we are just hoping to hear of any sightings at all at this point."
