Greenport Teens On TV Tuesday Night

Two Greenport High School students will be featured on national television Tuesday night.

Two Greenport High School juniors and aspiring actors will hit the big time Tuesday night when they appear on national television.

The twins, John and Matthew Drinkwater, 16, will appear in the new "Twin Kings of London" episode of the "Evil Twins" show on Investigation Discovery Channel, which airs at 10 p.m. They will appear for about 10 minutes in the hour-long show, their mother Angela said, "as the infamous and evil celebrity gangster Kray Brothers, teen thugs and gangsters on the streets of London in the 1940s."

For the boys, the experience was a turning point. "It was a really fun experience," said John. "It was really cool to work with everyone over at Investigation Discovery; they taught me a lot about how shows are made," as well as a host of filmmaking techniques, he said. "I see this as a stepping stone to bigger and better things."

John said he intends to pursue acting in the future.

His brother Matthew agreed. "Going to the shoot was an amazing experience," he said. "To see how a television show was made for an aspiring actor was really incredible. Shooting the show was very exhausting."

The actors were on set from 7 a.m. until midnight, he said.

"But getting to see the footage was really rewarding," Matthew added. "Hopefully, this is one of the first steps into my acting career."

The Drinkwaters are asking friends and family to watch the show, comment on Facebook, and Twitter, using the hashtag #DrinkwaterBrothers, #EvilTwins and/or #InvestigationDiscovery.

In addition, the episode will air twice more, at 1 a.m. Wednesday morning and on Sunday at 6 p.m.

The commercial, Drinkwater said, has already been airing, and features Matthew and John.

The episode is on Channel 171 on Optimum, 285 on DirectTV and 123 on Fios; check local listings and the Investigation Discovery website.

"They taped in early May in Maryland," Drinkwater said, of her boys.
