Grab & Go Kids Planner: Get Involved in Your Community, See a Play, or Go Skiing

See a play, talent show, or take a quick bus trip to go skiing with your family this weekend.

Spring is around the corner, but it’s still chilly outside. Here are some ideas to get your family members out of the house.

Where/When: Thursday at 5 p.m. at the Floyd Memorial Library in Greenport.

Why Go: This new teen group plans to make a difference in its community. The first event will be to work on the 3rd Street basketball courts. The meetings will be used to plan work events and discuss what’s going on in the community.

Pricing: Free.

 

Where/When: Friday afternoon between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Mattituck-Laurel Library.

Why Go: If you have little ones and you can’t tell if they just aren’t listening or are having trouble hearing, bring them down to the library to get checked out.

Pricing: Free.

 

Where/When: Friday afternoon between 2:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. at the Southold Library.

Why Go: Need to get your young teens out of the house to a safe place? The library is the perfect back to kick back and socialize.

Pricing: Free.

 

Where/When: Starts at 7 p.m. on Friday night at Southold High School

Why Go: This is a great event for the whole family. Your kids will love to hear the high school kids perform. Plus, prom is expensive. Help them lower the cost.

Pricing: $5 plus a can of food

 

Where/When: .Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the North Fork Community Theater

Why Go: Older children will appreciate how difficult it is to compete in a spelling bee. And it may cause a few flashbacks for parents too.

Pricing: $20

Where/When: Mitchell Park Ice Rink in Greenport. Hours on Saturday are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday

Why Go: It’s March. The first day of spring is March 20th. You don’t have a lot of time left to skate!

Pricing: Weekend rates are $6 for kids/ $10 for adults/ $2 for skate rental

Where/When: Meet at the Southold Town Recreation Center in Peconic at 4 a.m. on Sunday

Why Go: It’s a quick bus trip for a day of skiing and snowboarding for kids 7 and up. Key word here is bus trip, which means you don’t have to drive. Call to reserve your spot now.

Pricing: $85 per person plus a $25 ski rental fee
