Fundraiser Organized To Help Greenport Grad Run Over By SUV

When one of their own is facing a crisis, Greenport residents come together.

To that end, the Greenport Union Free School District has joined forces to raise funds for Katherine Willow Johnson, the 2010 graduate who was run over by an SUV and badly injured recently while away at school.

Friends and school staffers will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on July 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at St. Agnes Parish Hall in Greenport to benefit Katie, who is recovering at the Westhampton Care Center and facing mounting medical bills. A $15 donation is all inclusive and take out orders will be available, organizers said.

Katie's house also needs extensive rehabilitation so that she can return home to her family.
