Friends Turn to Go Fund Me to Help Greenport Woman Tackle Cancer Costs

A Greenport woman faces financial challenges after serious illness.

The tightly knit North Fork community is coming together to help one of her own as she faces her greatest challenge.

Her friend Michele created a Go Fund Me page for  Linda Mysliborski, of Greenport, to help defray some of her medical bills.

"As most of you know Linda has had a tough year medically. She has beaten colon cancer and is now living with IBD, or inflammatory bowel disease," she wrote. "This is a very painful and debilitating disease yet Linda still manages to work full-time, volunteer as EMT and firefighter for her community and raise a son."

Many of Mysliborski's treatments, procedures and tests are not covered fully by her insurance and her medication is expensive.

"I know times are tough for everyone but I just want to help out someone who gives so much back to others and who really puts others needs before her own. Every little bit will help and I know will be appreciated," Michele wrote.

Of the $3,700 goal set, so far, $400 has been raised.

"The amount I am hoping for is far less than $5,900 she already owes but I know every bit will help," Michele wrote.
