All eyes were on a controversial fireboat in Greenport on over the holiday weekend as a water display delighted crowds.
For months the "Fire Fighter" fireboat has sparked tempers among some area fishermen who believe the vessel should not be moved to the railroad dock. Others feel that the boat could pose safety hazards and should be charged dockage.
On the flipside, many believe the fireboat is a tourist attraction and will draw crowds to the waterfront -- as was the case when the water display was presented recently.
