Dog Lovers of Southold Start New Facebook Page

Want to know the parents of your furry friends? Here's how.

There's a pack of pretty devoted dog lovers in Southold Town, who meet at the dog park on Peconic Lane, behind the recreation center.

And now, one of those women has started a new Facebook page, to help the owners of their four-legged friends set up play dates and get to know each other.

The page was started by Courtney McGuire, who said she has been going to the park since her family rescued a rottie pup, Roxie, in August, 2013.

"I searched for meet ups online or even a park website to find out the best times to visit the park, but found nothing," she said. "I decided to create the group so that park goers could connect, plan play dates for the dogs and get to know each other."

She added, "It’s amazing how many of us know the pups, but not the humans. I hope that dog lovers on the North Fork will use this group to share information about the park, let others know when the park is filled with other playful pups, coordinate future activities or just to say 'I’m headed over!'. It’s also a great place to share information about other dog friendly places all over Southold. I am actively looking for other admins to help spread the word that this group is out there."
