Crowds Pack 59th Annual Mattituck Strawberry Festival

One of the most beloved festivals on the North Fork drew thousands Saturday.

The sun was shining and strawberries took top billing Saturday as thousands flocked to the 59th Annual Mattituck Lions Strawberry Festival.

With vendors, rides, amusements, food, music -- and strawberry shortcake, chocolate dipped strawberries, and strawberry daiquiris galore -- a good time was had by all.

A performance team from the North Fork Academy of Dance drew applause; the band Miles to Dayton took the stage for the crowd.

A highlight of the day was the crowning of this year's Strawberry Queen, Leah LaFreniere of Southold.

Cheering her on were a bevy of Strawberry Queen beauties from years' past.
