Cork Report Chases Three-Peat in Wine Blog Awards

New York Cork Report nominated for Best Single Subject Wine Blog, asks for community votes.

Editors from the locally run New York Cork Report are asking community members to help them score a Wine Blog Award for the third straight year.

Executive Editor Lenn Thompson said on Tuesday that people can vote for his publication, which was nominated by readers in the Best Single Subject Wine Blog category, using this online survey.

New York Cork Report won in that category in 2009 and 2010 for its focus on the wines, vineyards and winemakers in the various regions of New York state.

In that time, the blog has gone through its own changes, adding staff and coverage of things like New York beers and cheeses to its core wine coverage.

"I've been able to assemble a group of people who – in addition to being good writers –  always impress me with their passion for and belief in New York beers, wines and spirits," he said.

Keith Luce, chef at , is one local who will cast his vote for New York Cork Report.

"Lenn and his team are avid fans of local food and wine," he said. "They also have a great way of writing informative articles that are concise and interesting to new fans of wine as well as industry pros."

It's a sentiment mirrored by Creative Director Scott Sandell.

"Like him, hate him, agree, disagree, he's worked very hard to establish himself as a real voice of the region. He has a great palate, he's smart and he's objective," he said.

Thompson, whose blog is up against Cheap Wine Ratings, Elloinos, Reverse Wine Snob Swirl, Sip, Snark said the first place prize the last two years has been an engraved Riedel decanter.

Voting, which opened Tuesday, runs through June 27.
