Community Pitches In to Score 'Goal' For Greenport High

The community is asked to help raise money for new goal posts at Greenport High School.

North Fork residents have been asked to step up and help score a goal for young student athletes.

In the past, the community came together to raise funds for lights at Greenport High School's field.

Now, Colin Ratsey of Ratsey Construction has asked residents to dip deep and help raise funds for new goal posts at the high school field; the current goal posts are old and need to be replaced, school officials have said.

Currently, team spirit is high across the North Fork, with the Greenport-Southold-Mattituck Porters boys' varsity football team on a winning streak, undefeated after five games. Their sixth game of the season will be held at homecoming on Friday; the game kicks off at 7 p.m.

So far, Ratsey Construction and Peconic Landing both have pledged $1500; Ratsey has promised his company will install the new goal posts free of charge.
The goal of $10,000 has already been halfway met.

Anyone looking to donate should contact Troy Gustavson@tgustavson@timesreview.com; he has sent out a letter asking residents to help.
