Blogger Remembers Plum Connection to the Spanish-American War

This week saw the 113th anniversary of the lauch of the Spanish-American War — and Fort Terry on Plum Island played a big role in the famous conflict.

Feb. 15 was the 113th anniversary of the beginning of the Spanish-American War, when the USS Maine was blown up in Havana Harbor so long ago.

And this week, a Greenport blogger published a nice account of the role Fort Terry played in the conflict right next door on Plum Island, now still as controversial as ever as home to the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center.
