Air Force Reunion to Hold ‘Bootlegger Boat Race’

Members of a pararescue reunion will race from Riverhead to Greenport for a barrel of beer at Claudio's Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Air Force Pararescue Association plans to throw in a little prohibition into the activities for their bi-annual reunion this year.

Starting Monday, the New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing will be hosting pararescue teams from across the nation for its bi-annual “PJ Rodeo Competition." The weeklong competition, which takes place this year at locations across the East End, simulates real world scenarios testing the core skill sets of each rescue team, members of which come from all over the world. Event scenarios include tactical combat casualty care, military free-fall and static-line parachuting operations, and Zodiac boat operations.
