Even though the Mattituck Boys Varsity Soccer team didn't come home with the Class B State title, they are still winners. Suffolk County Class B Champs for the 3rd consecutive year and Southeast Regional Class B Champs is no small feat and they should be as proud of themselves as we are of them. They played Livonia High School on Saturday at upstate Middletown High School. David Burkhardt scored the only goal for Mattituck :38 seconds into the first half, which turned out to be Mattituck's only goal. From what I read, Mattituck dominated possession in the first half. Mattituck has many shots on goal, but they just weren't meant to be. Final score was 3-1. The last time Mattituck went to the State Final Four was in 2007 and they played Livonia in that game as well. We, as parents & a community are so proud of the team and their efforts. The graduating Seniors are leaving some big cleats to fill next year. Well done boys!!
