Why Do Teens Runaway?

Teens who runaway: the best solution is to work it out with a school counsler or 24/7 hotline, or better yet your parents.

Teens runaway because they are looking for their own independence, others runaway from abuse, alcohol, or drug problems within the home. But what is the outcome if a teen is a runaway? Depending on who they are living with, abuse can happen in that situation as well, you end up on the street with no food, no money, and no place to live.

You live in a shack to stay warm or call your parents up for money, you walk because you have no car to get you anywhere and work a 12-hour shift because you absolutely need the money.

But what if leaving is the better way of things? You don't endure abuse, you find a nice place to stay, and you go to school, that could be a scenario as well and the outcome could be a better fit, though you should talk to a school counsler or a 24/7 runaway hotline, because running away is not the answer.

Though most teens return home after a few weeks or a few years, running away can be a life-altering decision.
