Starfish Ball, An Art Show and A Twilight Picnic on the North Fork Thursday

Here's a look at North Fork happenings on Thursday.

- The Guidance Center in Southold hosts its Starfish Ball Thursday night, beginning with a reception at 6 p.m. at The Vineyards in Aquebogue. The event honors Charlene Halsey Mascia, resources coordinator for the East End Regional Intervention Council. Aimed at "Making A Difference," benefits from the fundraiser will be used to support drug-free youth and raise funds for Strengthening Families With Prevention Education. The event features music by Sahara, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, a Chinese auction, awards, dancing and dessert. For tickets and reservations, call 631-664-9886.

- A Greenport planning board work session takes place at 5 p.m. at the Third Street Firehouse.

- Head to the Raphael Vineyard and Winery to sip wine and dance the night away with Noiz, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner. Admission is free.

- Parents, don't forget: Friday is the last day to collect children's reading club prizes at the Mattituck-Laurel Library.

- The 2013 exhibit, "The Bays Around Us: A Tribute to Rachel Carson," continues at the East End Seaport Museum in Greenport. The exhibit was created by the East End Seaport Museum, in partnership with East End Arts, and showcases the finalists of the East End Challenge.

High school students from the North Fork were asked to create a project inspired by the region's maritme culture. The exhibition continues through October 14th, 2013.
