I think the 3 coins may also have a connection to the iChing. You throw 3 coins 3 times to get aRead More trigram which then gives an "answer" to your question...

I agree! You so often see and experience moments like this in the village. It is those randomRead More tid-bits over overhead comments that reveal the heart and soul of the area. Sometimes on a busy day I take a moment to sit on the bench in Mitchell Park and take in a few moments of time as people explore the area. You wonder what adventures they are off to. Maybe there are more fishing exursions happening than we realize as you look at the history of the village.

Could "Gillette Drive" in Marion Manor be the legacy of Mr Gillette? It would beRead More interesting to connect the dots if that is the case.

William Gillette also traveled here Greenport aboard his yacht The Aunt Polly. He had it serviced atRead More a Greenport Shipyard.

Gillette indeed owned the land and all that is left is the name of the street. I am not sure he hadRead More a house built on it or not. He would bring his yacht to Greenport and bought the land. He sold the land and used the money to buy the land inConnecticut where he built his Gillette Castle in Connecticut, a large tourist attraction today.

Great photo. Could be a Norman Rockwell painting.

This is a classic. Can you imagine a tight shave, tailored cut and a nice shoe shine before youRead More start your business day? I am thinking this would be a place I would frequent.... This is a Patch, What should fill this empty space idea if it was brought together with a modern touch.

The best thing is to find a "Bottle Dump" on some of the North Fork properties and seeRead More what can be found from the past. It is amazing to see how Greenport Village architecture has stayed the same for all of these years!
