Highlighting adoptable animals in the area -- hoping they get their next chance at an awesome life.

Pet of the Week: Princess is Not Just Another Pretty Face

A friend of mine was pretty surprised after reading the story of the 25 kitties who've lived at the Town of Southhold Animal Shelter for over a year now — but she was truly saddened when she found out that many of the cats still remain homeless.

That feeling of despair can probably be multiplied many times for shelter employees who care for animals that don't get adopted quickly into loving homes, such as this week's Pet of the Week: Princess.

Another one of the remaining siblings of those 25 cats mentioned above, Princess is a strikingly beautiful cat. At only 4 years old, she probably has many years of love left to give. What you can't see from her picture is that even though she has a lot to say, she may be overlooked due to her initial shyness when visitors enter the room.

But just like her other siblings, if she's given time, Princess comes out of her shell and shows what an awesome cat she is, as shelter office manager Gabby Glantzman explains: "She is very, very sweet and vocal, but she is shy at first meeting."

Princess would do great in any loving family setting, and especially adores the company of her fellow felines.

Remember, while all the animals at the Town of Southold Animal Shelter are safe and well-cared for, they're all still waiting for their forever homes.
