Weekend Field Guide For Jan. 20 - 22

Get ready for a busy North Fork weekend.

Don't miss some great theater, comedy, jazz, ice skating — and Mattituck 7-Eleven deals during its grand opening — this weekend on the North Fork:

• Winterfest's fifth-annual Jazz on the Vine series kicks off on Friday at 6 p.m. at Hotel Indigo East End, 1830 West Main Street in Riverhead, with a live jazz jam with surprise appearances by this year's headliners. Wine will be served along with light food. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds support East End Arts.

• Though it's been open since Dec. 21, Mattituck 7-Eleven will hold its grand opening on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the corner of Route 25 and Factory Avenue. The WLNG radio team will host the event, which will feature free coffee, Slurpee, Gulp fountain soda, samplings of sandwiches and fresh bakery items, raffles, face painting, and a balloon artist.

Castello Di Borghese Vineyard and Winery, 17150 County Route 48 in
Cutchogue, hosts a night of wine and comedy New York City-style on Saturday at 8 p.m., doors at 7 p.m. Chris DiStefano headlines the event with Paul Corrigan opening. Tickets are $15 online (click here for the link) and $20 at the door. The show is for adults only. Call 631-471-6335 for reservations.

• Enjoy poetry and fiction readings at The Market, 44 Front Street in Greenport, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Writers Matthew Daddona, Lucas Hunt, John Trotta, and Tim Wood will read from their own works with food and wine served. Call 631-276-5152 for more information.

• Now that it actually feels like winter, take advantage of the Greenport ice skating rink at Mitchell Park with the family this weekend and be sure to warm up with the hot chocolate afterward. Click here for hours.

• If your younger kids prefer to play indoors, take them to North Fork Fun & Fitness Studio, 54655 Route 25 in Southold, for a "weekend playdate" on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Play with your kids and let them socialize with new friends.

• Two shows debut on the local theater circuit this week: "'night Mother," a two-woman play about suicide, will run through the weekend at Holy Trinity Church in Greenport, and "Doubt: A Parable," a drama surrounding a priest suspected of inappropriate action with a student, will play out its first weekend at the North Fork Community Theater in Mattituck.
