Shelter Islander Releases Book About Living With Autism

Alex Olinkiewicz writes book after successful YouTube video.

The spectrum of Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism is one that is hard to define, but Shelter Island native Alex Olinkiewicz has done it in his first book, “In My Mind: A Journey Through My Life With Asperger’s / Autism.”

The memoir recounts the 21-year-old’s struggles with the disorder and his feelings of normalcy and limitations living with it. He shares how his condition affects his social development, his sense of panic and even his physical movements. Unable to drive due to his autism, Olinkiewicz explains how the condition can keep him from some of life’s routine activities.

The title of his book comes from his highly successful YouTube video of the same name that has attracted 1.27 million viewers. Watch the video and click here for more information: www.createspace.com/3899100
