North Found, New General Store, Opens Friday at Former White Flower

Eclectic vintage items are the focus at new Peconic Lane store.

For Hadley Wiggins, the off-the-beaten path location of “downtown” Peconic is perfect for her new store, North Found — something she describes as a general store with a focus on vintage clothing, furniture, lighting fixtures, and high-quality dried food items.

Wiggins said she wants to “preserve the sense of discovery” for patrons who will find her at the former White Flower Farmhouse location next to the Winemaker Studio on Peconic Lane.

“My hope is that people will feel like they have found a gem when they come here,” said Wiggins, who is opening the store with her fiancé, Daniele Marin.

Lori Guyer, the owner of the White Flower Farmhouse, moved her store to downtown Southold in early October after years on Peconic Lane in order to attract more foot traffic. Wiggins said she and Daniele were instant fans of the vintage antique store when they discovered the North Fork about three years ago.

“Lori has really created a brand, and she’s been really gracious and encouraging to us,” she said. “I hope we get some of her customers in here and we’ll send them on to her new space.”

Wiggins, 27, is a native of Manhattan who grew up summering at Martha’s Vineyard — another reason she said she feels at home on the North Fork. “It’s country and quiet and there is no ‘scene’ — you get enough of that in the city,” she said. She and Daniele discovered the North Fork when they decided to house hunt on the East End.

Wiggins was educated in art and history at Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester. She worked for a time as an interior designer for an advertising agency, and this is her first venture into business ownership. Partnered with clothing designer Daniele, a native of Italy with a background in the restaurant business, Wiggins said she believes North Found is the perfect way for both of them to express themselves creatively.

“We put a lot of ourselves into everything in this store,” she said.

North Found, located at 2845 Peconic Lane, opens Friday at 11 a.m. Winter hours will be Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call 631-765-8701.
