North Fork Winter Break 2012: Stuff to Do

Winter break is on — here are some things to keep yourself and the kids busy.

1. East End Arts along with Little Folk's Music and Fantasic Theatrix will be running classes Feb. 21 through 24 at Brecknock Hall in Greenport beginning at 10 a.m. each day. Call 631-369-2172 and check out littlefolkfirst.blogspot.com.

2. If you're closer to Riverhead, East End Arts is also holding an interactive theatrical workshop this week at its Main Street campus, 10 to 11 a.m. for ages 8 to 10, 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 7. Cost: $48 EEA members / $72 non-members.

3. It might be a mild "winter" but Greenport's ice rink is still open and going strong with open skating, classes and team play.

4. Are you and your family book worms? Orient Country store hosts a book talk at their cozy Village Lane store on Feb. 22 at 2 p.m., with representatives of Floyd Memorial Library on hand.

5. Parent of a newborn? Brecknock Hall in Greenport is also holding a workshop this week with instructor Lynda Folks for parents with babies ages 1 month to 60 months to help develop everything from physical coordination to language skills through creative songs, movement and activities. Call 631-369-2172.

Have a great week everyone!
