Long Island Moose 10th Annual Classic Car Show

Turn-of-the century race car and a Batmobile are showcased amongst suped-up classics despite the threat of rain.

With dark clouds looming over Mattituck and reports of rain farther west, the 10th annual Long Island Moose Car Show wasn't as packed it normally is. But the weather didn't stop classic car buffs from showing off their restored Model Ts, muscle cars and little red Corvettes at the Capital One Operations Center parking lot in Mattituck on Sept. 12.

Long Island Moose Classic Car Club President Charlie Cali said that the event drew about 230 spectators and raised about $1,000 for Mooseheart, a fundraiser for children, and Moosehaven, a charity for the elderly.

Cali said he spent about $3,000 on the event, complete with a bouncer and face painting for kids and a DJ. He also gave about $1,500 in raffle prizes.

"We did it up top-shelf this year for the anniversary, and I'm not sorry we did," Cali said. "It raises the bar for next year."
