EVENT: Learn to Use Vertical Space in the Garden at New Workshop

Gardening class hits Charnews Farm in Southold this coming Saturday.

The is offering a gardening workshop this coming Saturday at the Learning Garden at Charnews Farm in Southold.

The workshop entitled "Using Vertical Space in the Vegetable Garden" will help those with green thumb how to harness vertical space to expand the growing area of the veggie garden. The class starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 12 p.m.

"Don’t be restricted by square feet – create plant supports and layer your vegetables," said Kathy Kennedy, outreach manager of the Peconic Land Trust. "Take home new skills and put them to use in your own garden plot."

Master gardener Peter Zwerlein, will teach you about vegetables that grow well with vertical supports, and then help you create them in the Learning Garden.

The Ag Center at Charnews Farm is located at 3005 Youngs Avenue in Southold. Reservations are requested for the $5 workshop.
