Crimes Nearby: Riverhead Woman Charged With Menacing With Box Cutter

The following information was supplied by Suffolk County and East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

 

RIVERHEAD

• Vanessa Olivia Shaw, 48, of Riverhead, was arrested Jan. 6 on Vail Avenue in Riverside and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and menacing in the second degree, both felonies. Police said a victim reported Shaw came up to him with a box cutter.

• Eduardo Cruz, 23, of Flanders, was arrested Jan. 6 at 10:41 a.m. and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony, as well as driving without a seat belt, a traffic infraction. Police said Cruz was stopped on Peconic Avenue in Riverside for not wearing a seat belt and he gave the police offer a U.S. Department of Homeland Security Permanent Resident Card, bearing the name Estuardo Cruz, and he stated it wasn’t his real name. Cruz bought the ID in New York City for $60 one month ago, police said.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH - HAMPTON BAYS

• Barry J. Brockner, 55, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Dec. 19 at 1:08 a.m. and charged with displacing a fake inspection sticker, a misdemeanor, as well as driving an uninspected and uninsured motor vehicle, both traffic infractions.
• Robert J. Dozier, 28, of Riverhead, was arrested in Hampton Bays on Jan. 2 and charged with criminal contempt in the first degree, a felony, as well as for an outstanding warrant on a parole violation.
Kathleen Nancy Danielson, 22, of Hampton Bays was arrested Jan. 7 at 11:10 p.m. and charged with felony DWI and moving from lane unsafely, a traffic infraction. Police said Danielson struck a utility pole on Ponquogue Avenue and Argonne Road East and she performed poorly on sobriety tests.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Alexander C. Haje, 25, of Southampton, was arrested Jan. 3 at 10:11 p.m. on Big Fresh Pond Road in North Sea and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and moving from lane unsafely, a traffic infraction. Southampton Town police said Haje was involved in a car accident and found to be intoxicated. He was transported to police headquarters in Hampton Bays, where he was held overnight for morning arraignment.

• A Hampton Bays man reported to Southampton Town police Jan. 8 that he was being given a ride home from Momento’s by two men he thought he knew, but they stopped the car on Gravel Hill Road/Argonne Road East and made him get out, then frisked him and took his billfold, $100 in cash, ID, and Visa card. Police said the complainant was drunk at the time of the incident. The doorman at Momento’s told police that about an hour before the incident he turned away two white men who were underage, but no one saw the complainant get in their vehicle.

• James F. Caine, 24, of Manorville, was arrested Dec. 26 at 9:30 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a felony. Southampton Village police said they stopped Caine for a vehicle and traffic violation while operating a 2007 Pontiac on North Sea Road and found him to be in possession of more than 500 milligrams of cocaine. In addition, he had two outstanding warrants from the Suffolk County Police Department, police said. He was processed and remanded to the Suffolk County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

EAST HAMPTON

• Village police have charged two East Hampton men in connection with a large fight outside of East Hampton Bowl after a rapper's mixtape release party late last month. On Jan. 5, Kyle T. Russell, 29, and his cousin Michael E. Russell, 21, turned themselves in after warrants were issued for their arrests. Kyle was charged with unlawful assembly, a misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a violation. Michael was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct. Read the full story here.

• A Springs man is being held on $10,000 bail after he was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge on Jan. 2. Juan G. Chiquiana Flores, 27, was charged with two felonies, driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, after he was pulled over on Springs Fireplace Road at 1:45 a.m. A check of his license showed it was revoked for a driving while intoxicated on Jan. 7, 2010. MILLER PLACE - ROCKY POINT

• Four individuals were arrested on drug charges - one with intent to sell - on Dec. 30 on Lavender Road in Rocky Point. According to police, Robert M. Vona III, 26, of Rocky Point, was charged with third degree possession of a controlled substance, a narcotic drug with intent to sell. The following three were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance: James Sorce, 32, of Rocky Point; Merissa Caskey, 32, of Rocky Point; and a 16-year-old minor.

• Corey Carson, 26, of Ridge, was arrested Jan. 1 and at about 3:00 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief, fourth degree grand larceny, and unauthorized use of a vehicle without the owner's consent. He allegedly broke into a vehicle in the parking lot of Planet Fitness in Rocky Point, took a pocketbook, and used the vehicle.
