Pet of the Week: Brie the Cat is Petite and Very Sweet

A friendly cat proves that wonderful things can come in small packages as she and many other cats await loving homes at the Town of Southold Animal Shelter.

The Town of Southold Animal Shelter has recently been experiencing a serious lull in its cat adoption rate, thus leaving the shelter full of beautiful and loving — yet homeless — cats.

This decline in adoptions also makes it very difficult to decide the current cat for Pet of the Week — there are too many purring babies to choose from. But along with the usual worthy help of shelter office manager Gabby Glantzman, this week we picked a precious 1-and-1/2-year-old feline named Brie.

Someone left Brie and her 3-week-old kittens in a crate outside the shelter — and wrote Brie's name on the crate. Brie is a tiny treasure, standing out from the crowd with her persistent and gentle personality.

Glantzman explained how Brie doesn't let her size get in the way communicating about what she wants.

"Brie is extremely verbal," Glantzman said. "She lets us know everything that's going on throughout the day."

Please stop by the shelter today to visit Brie and all the other beautiful cats that are there — maybe one of them can be the newest addition to your family.
