Aquebogue Man Wins Eastern Long Island Hospital Car Raffle

Man born at Greenport hospital wins a 2012 Chrysler 200

Peter Troyan of Aquebogue is the winner of this year’s car raffle fundraiser to help benefit patient services at the hospital. He drove away this week with a 2012 Chrysler 200 provided by in Southold.

Troyan, who was born at Eastern Long Island Hospital in 1947, said that he feels very lucky.

“I’ve never won anything this big,” he said.

A graduate of Riverhead High School, Troyan is now retired from the Town of Riverhead. In his spare time he said enjoys fishing, which he attributes to his upbringing. As the son of a commercial fisherman, he and his brother spent many days out on the water catching fluke, flounder, weakfish and blues. Troyan currently lives in Aquebogue and has three grown sons and five grandchildren.

The seventh-annual fundraiser is organized by members of the hospital's auxiliary, a group of volunteers who help with various fundraisers and tasks at Eastern Long Island Hospital and the The hospital sold 807 tickets since January, enough to award either the 2012 Chrysler 200 or $10,000 in cash. The raffle, sponsored by Mullen Motors, raises approximately $25,000 for patient services each year.
