10 Local Sparkling Wines to Ring in the New Year

Indulge in locally produced sparkling wines to celebrate the New Year.

With New Year’s Eve right around the corner, many local wineries offer sparkling wines to usher in the New Year. The local vineyards that produce sparkling wines take pride in producing this labor intensive variety. There’s still time to stop by a tasting room to find the perfect one for your party. Here is a list of just some of the locally produced sparkling wines.

  1. 2007 Blanc de Blancs is a good match for oysters, caviar, and rich deserts and is offered at a good price point.
  2. ’s Cuvée Carnaval is a sweeter wine and priced at the lower end of the spectrum for sparkling wines. It won a silver at the 2011 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition.
  3. Since the focus of 's wine production is strictly sparkling wines, another good choice from them is the multi-award winning 2001 Brut Seduction. This deep gold wine was aged nine years — longer than any other Sparkling Pointe wine.
  4. ’s 2009 Cuvée Rare Champagne is crafted in the natural method and no sugar is added.
  5. s' Dolce Patricia 2004 is made from Merlot grapes, which makes this pink champagne-style wine a real treat.
  6. What makes Pu’ Blanc de Blanc Brut 2007 even more special than a typical champagne variety is the hand-painted bottle it comes in. It’s perfect to give as a gift and great to pair with food.
  7. 2005 Cuvée is a dry sparkling wine made entirely out of pinot noir grapes.
  8. Brut is another local sparkling wine produced in the traditional manner.  The bottles rest for two years prior to hand-riddling and disgorging, helping to add to the wine’s citrus flavor.
  9. 2007 Blanc de Blancs is produced from chardonnay grapes. It is one of the higher priced local sparkling wines but this unique wine is crisp and refreshing.
  10. Brut Rose is a light berry-flavored sparkling wine, a good match for fruit plates or chocolate.
